DENVER (CBS4) – A Colorado teenager who was born with a rare genetic disease that later led to leukemia will have her wish come true.

CBS4 first reported on Molly Nash 11 years ago. On Sunday the 17-year-old was headed to England to meet actor Johnny Depp.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was behind the magic.

“Oh my gosh, I was so excited. I had no idea about it. All my friends
knew and they kept it a really good secret. All my teachers knew at
school and I had no idea,” Molly said.

Molly was born with Fanconi anemia. It’s a rare genetic disorder that
prevents her body from producing healthy bone marrow. Doctors thought
she would have died at a young age.

“It was amazing because there have been so many really bad calls that
I’ve had to take in her life,” Molly’s mother Lisa Nash said.

Nash’s mother has no idea who nominated her daughter to be a part of
the Make-A-Wish Foundation, but it was a call she wanted to take.

“To get a call that I knew was going to be something good for her and
was going to make her happy; that was just amazing,” she said.

“I’m really excited and really thankful for Make-A-Wish for giving me my wish,” Molly said.

Molly’s brother, Adam, whose umbilical cord blood was used to help
his big sister is going along for the meet-and-greet. Molly and Adam are
scheduled to visit Depp on the set of his latest movie set to be
released in May of next year.
